I have a notebook with three preferred networks on it. The one i need to work has the name of the network and then bracketed next to it (manual) as opposed to automatic. I'm not being able to connect to the internet and I think this is the problem. When i go into this networks properties the box for automatic connection is ticked but when I view wireless networks I cant see it? Please can someone help me!!
Wireless Network help needed?
Go to the networks dialog, and remove all networks from the list. Reboot and re-check the list.

I would guess BSID broadcast is off by default. This prevents people from seeing it.
You need to initiate the connection. That is what manual means.
Connect to it again with your login info.
Reply:To change the (manual) to (automatic) just select it from the list and click "Connect", it will then be set back to (Automatic). One thing you might check since you can't see the network anymore is the actual wireless router. Can you or a friend hop on another computer and try to connect to the network? If they are unable to, then you know it's not just your computer, it's the router.
Try power cycling the wireless router and that will most like fix the issue. Also verify that your wireless card is enabled on the computer. Sometimes Windows is goofy and shows what I like to call "Phantom" networks. Last but not least try restarting the computer. Good luck!
