i was wondering if i could hook up 2 dsl modems on the same phone line using 2 separate phone jacks
About dsl modems?
most likelyn not, it all depends on your phone line, but according to the tech. from VZ the modem has to connect.
About dsl modems?
You should consider getting a router if your trying to hook two separate computers up to the dsl. Getting two dsl modems won't increase your internet speed if that's what your getting at...
Reply:NO, but you could get cable service and that will be even better then 2 dsl modems. But if you really need 2 dsl modems you can get a second line installed to your house, but this would not be very cost affective for the speed and service.
Reply:NO.

The second modem would not work without paying for a second service, which may or may not be possible in your area, depends on what type of wires are coming into the house.

Most people who want to have a second modem, are trying to get internet service at more than one location in the house.

The best way to do this is to purchase a wireless router, which will cost far less than a modem, and you then install the router between the existing modem and the computer. You can then use a wireless adapter in a second, third, fourth, etc, computer to access the same internet connection that the main computer is using.

A good 802.11G router will cost $50 or less, and you can get a decent USB adapter for the computer for under $20.
Reply:No. Only one DSL "modem" can use the subscriber line at a time. The standard way to let multiple computers share a DSL connection is to use a router that establishes a connection between the DSL modem and a local Ethernet, Powerline, or Wi-Fi network on the customer's premises.
Reply:I had never heard of trying such a thing...

I remember being set to a specific model/home/line/account and all dedicated service. Try it and see because I curious to find out!
