I am using the TL-WN322G Wireless USB adaptor on my desktop pc to connect to my wifi , I have found and connected but the connection keeps cutting off then back on every few seconds , the signal strength is good and the wifi is fine cos I have 2 laptops, a ps3, and a psp already online.Any ideas what is wrong ?

Reply:Troubleshooting this could take hours and drive you mad. Try purchasing a wireless USB adapter that is from the same manufacturer as your router. If you have better luck then return the other.

Reply:Try to get the information about your wireless. Example, the frequency they are using like b/g/a/n something like that they are not compatible. You have use b/g together or a/g together, or a/g/n.
Also if your home using hnadheld phone, walkitalkie they will interfere with the wireless.

If you still can't fix the problem, there is another kind of technology called powerline. It uses your home's existing electrical wires and lets you transmit data through them. You just need an adapter hooked up close to your router and connect it to your router and another device plugged into the wall near your computer and connected to your computer.

I have Optimum Online, cable internet at home but my desktop doesn't have a wireless card. However, my laptop does have a wireless card. I also have a router that I usually use at school. Is there any way to use my cable internet and somehow hook up the router and get wireless for my laptop?

VLSM is kinda hard stuff...been a little while but lets see if i can do this off the top of my head. You are dealing with a class A stealing a bit so Class A enhanced address scheme. Now the best way is to use the SUBNET, not the GATEWAY to get this answer. C = 255.255.255.0 B = 255.255.0.0 A= 255.0.0.0
C lets you have 256-2 = 254 hosts.
B = 256 * 256 - 2 = 65534 hosts
A = 256*256*258 - 2 = 16 million and some hosts
So an custom subnet to fullfill 348 hosts would worked out like this...
256...not enough so that rules out class C. 65534 hosts is WAAAAAY to many so it must be between B and C. That's a good start. incremements go as such...256,128,64,32,16,8,4,2,1.. and the subnetting would go inversly to the above So you want the 256 + the 128 to meet what you need.

I have a modem with a USB slot, and Ethernet slot. We are running the internet through the USB slot.
And i want to hook xbox live up to it, but xbox live uses Ethernet.

If it connects to the Internet, then disconnecting the Internet defeats that goal. If it connects to a computer, then unless your modem also has router capabilities, you can't do that either. Modems with router capabilities (often called 2-wire modems), usually have several Ethernet (or, possibly, USB) jacks in addition to the Internet jack. Since you said "a USB slot", I doubt this describes your modem.
So I suspect you're going to need a router to do what you want to. The router will be connected between the modem and your computer and handle the XBox as a second "computer".

Reply:I was having the same problem......I called Belkin wireless....my wireless router support and they will take you step by step and tell you what to do.
You can unplug for the router for 2 minutes and then plug it back in.......but, it would only last me for a couple of hours or even less.

Call your router company.....make sure you have your model number or they will not assist you.

Reply:Before you go and trade your laptop for an equally crappy HP, Try a few of the following.
A. Temporarily remove all kinds of security from your router. You can always put it back on, if that doesn't solve your problem. It could be that your wireless config on the laptop doesn't retain your WEP or WPA password. You can bypass that by enabling MAC address restrictions on your router.
B. Disable the management of your wireless card being handled by Dell's Software. Don't uninstall the Driver, but get WIndows to manage your wireless connection.
C. in the properties of your wireless adapter, remove all other wireless networks that you no longer need. Move your home network to the top of the list.

Reply:I was having the same problem......I called Belkin wireless....my wireless router support and they will take you step by step and tell you what to do.
You can unplug for the router for 2 minutes and then plug it back in.......but, it would only last me for a couple of hours or even less.
What is the name of your router?
Call your router company.....make sure you have your model number or they will not assist you.

Reply:Before you go and trade your laptop for an equally crappy HP, Try a few of the following.
A. Temporarily remove all kinds of security from your router. You can always put it back on, if that doesn't solve your problem. It could be that your wireless config on the laptop doesn't retain your WEP or WPA password. You can bypass that by enabling MAC address restrictions on your router.
B. Disable the management of your wireless card being handled by Dell's Software. Don't uninstall the Driver, but get WIndows to manage your wireless connection.
C. in the properties of your wireless adapter, remove all other wireless networks that you no longer need. Move your home network to the top of the list.

How to setup simultaneous and separate internet and intranet with 2 NICs?
I have an old computer that I definately don't want on the internet, but will occassionally generate files on, which is attached via a cross over cable to another computer (intranet). The other computer has two network cards, where one has an IP address that works with my router for outside connectivity (internet) and the other has a local address, which is attached to that first computer (intranet). Right now, on the computer with 2 NICs, I disable the network card that I don't want to use in order to have everyting working; I do this because if both are enabled, I can't get outside connectivity. Any suggestions (i.e. can I eat my cake and have it too)?

Issue: connecting to the internet?
The main desk top computer is connected to the internet just fine, however awhile ago it would not connect and some tech people had my mom do some things to the computer to get it working again and she doesn't know what she did. Now, my lap top will not connect to the wireless internet at all even though it says that I have full signal and am connected. I have tried the unplugging of everything, the repair button, and nothing seems to help. keep in mind, my lap top can connect anywhere else,... I can steal the neighbors internet if i want to but the bars are to low so the connection is slow.
The strange thing to me is, I took the ethernet cord from the desk top and plugged it into my lap top. Internet should work then, but again, it would not.

You need a Ethernet "Router." Technically what you have is a Modem. Doesn't need to be wireless or fancy but it has to be a "Router." Hope this helps. :)

If you have a dialup connection to a computer, you could use WifiMax to host it wirelessly. However, wifi connections are obviously significantly slower. Hosting a dialup connection wirelessly will be litterally useless to anything you need it for.

Inside my router manager thing it says the downsteam is 3387, which is 3.3mb i think. But I've ran about 5 speed tests online and they al put my speed at 0.5mb on average. I rang my ISP who said I was getting nearly 4mb. Whats going on can someone please help. It seems that my line is getting upto 4mb but when I test the speed im actually getting its much lower. Ive changed my filter and put the line in the test socket to see if it rises, I dont know if that will help tho as I dont really know what the issue is. I dont have any virus's i know that. If the router is reporting 4mb, and so is your ISP, i'd say it's a problem between your router and PC. Do you wireless and is it secured? It could be someone taking your connection. If it's not, it may be the firmwire on your router needs updating or the router itself is on the way out.

i'm supposed to have a 16MB line, but i know i only will get 4MB but usually get slightly less.

test at 3-5pm and then at 8pm and you will see a big diffrence, the fastest speed will be at 5am when there arnt many people online. i got 5MB!!
Sky, BT and virgin media are heavy user ISP's. companies like tiscali will limmit your speed, and are for low/light users.
i had huge issues with tiscali, and will never go with them even if it was free or someone paid me!

this all started yesterday when my dsl light started blinking on my modem signaling i have no internet. i tried trurning it off and all that stuff but it never worked. then randomly after about 4 hours of not working i just put everything back to normal and it works GREAT and prefectly fine. The same exact scenario happened today too! Do i need a new modem or something? i have my computer in the basment and the phone jack is going into this box that we had installed from verizon (our provider) right into the wall. we also have a linksys wireless router that is wired with the computer and our ps3. thanks for any help guys. could it be the weather because we are having a heat wave here in mass.thanks for any help guys.

If the light on your Modem is going out, that means you are loosing sync with Verizon's network. Even if there was no PC connected to the modem, the sync light on the modem would be on if the modem had a connection to the Verizon Network. I would call them back.
Ensure it is not the Ethernet or LAN light blinking and is in fact the Internet connection light.

My mother was able to get DSL in a very rural area. Check with the local phone company and ISPs. WIreless from towers exists in some places. Satellite is an option. If there is cable tv, that is an option. Barring more exotic options, you are looking at dialup.

Get the longest USB extension lead, then keep the laptop where it is and put the USB WIFI adaptor closer to the Router.
You may even be able to improve the aerial on the USB adaptor and get one with a better gain (5 or 6dBi)

I have had a lot of practice and skill as an admin and I think I'm qualified for the position. I work well with people, I'm always friendly and laid-back. I also love to help others. I've thought about making my own server, and have tried many times, but I can't seem to do all the techincal stuff. I know a lot of things in-game but am not a coder. It is very easy, then go to your computer wireless connections and connect to that wireless network, you suppose to go online, If not, try to reconfigure wireless router. open any internet browser and type your gateway address, as usuall it is http://192.168.1.1 password and username depends on wireless router model. Do google or yahoo with your router name, for example: "Linksys WRGT 54 default password" and you';; find that username/password is admin/password.

It is very easy, then go to your computer wireless connections and connect to that wireless network, you suppose to go online, If not, try to reconfigure wireless router. open any internet browser and type your gateway address, as usuall it is http://192.168.1.1 password and username depends on wireless router model. Do google or yahoo with your router name, for example: "Linksys WRGT 54 default password" and you';; find that username/password is admin/password.

Why does my computer's Local Area Connection switch back and forth between on and off repeatedly?
My internet connection comes from the cable in the wall, into an Arris modem, then through a 25 ft ethernet cord into my room where my computer is at. Randomly, after plugging it into my computer (it's not plugged in full time) it switches between "Local Area Connection is now connected; Speed 100.0 Mbps" and "Local Area Connection; A network cable is unplugged. It usually goes away after I unplug it for a while.
During these happenings, I do not loose internet what so ever. It is actually occuring right now. My net does seem to slow down some though. Is there any cause for this? And how might I be able to fix it?

I am not new to networking but all these cables confuse me. I want to get a new wireless network because the current one is a piece of s***. I want to get a Linksys AM200 and a Linksys WRVS4400N I will connect them with a Cat5e Snagless UTP Patch Cable. Im extremely upset by this, so please if anyone has an ideas please help me.

How can i stop disconnecting?
I use AT%26amp;T high speed internet. They sent my a router and an adapter. But i Keep Disconnecting when i play WoW or download things, Sometime just surfing the web. IT is really annoying and i have to reconnected it about every 5 minutes. How can i stop this? I bought all of those expensive adapters but they still disconnect. But if i use the internet cable, it doesnt. I use windows vista and the router is from AT%26amp;T, gateway i think. The adapter it orginally come with is 2wire.

Building 1 connected via the dsl modem. someone suggested getting a 5.6GHZ wireless router and then a point to point access dsl extender and then connecting it to building 2 that should be able to get the dsl to building 2 and then we can use our dvr to connect to the building 1. we would ultimatly connect the dsl modem to the router for this to work correctly. any suggestions on how to best get this accomplished. thank you

Can any IT pros tell me the average cost to network a small medical office.
I have 4 Dell computers and looking to buy a server. Looking at a wired network, server will require weekly back up, also looking to install some medical billing software. Also how much should IT support cost.

They all work in harmony with each other with the basic sharing employed on vista. As far as communication between machines we use snapmail along with a vnc server for remote access etc. In all honesty, just to get a tech to come out to our area and work on the specialized printer (old irritating one) it was 200 bucks for about an hour of work. If you want to network your office (and you have even a little bit of spare time) read about how easy it is to network the computers. You can find numerous tutorials online. As far as backup just keep an external drive on one of the computers and designate that computer as the server. That way you can also take a backup home just in case of fire etc. Handy programs that you may look into is Retrospect (for backup), dell networking utility (comes with dells to network easily), vnc server (if you would like remote access).. etc. I wish I could give you more information but offhand I don't have it all with me. I would definitely google networking and things similar before you decide to pay a bunch of money for it. The main reason I would avoid a tech is because hiccups in a network are frequent. It's not good to have to stop your business and be unable to fix the problem yourself (not all problems, just the minor ones). As far as techs that I personally know that set up networks, between 70-100 an hour. With a network like yours it is not that it is difficult, it may be a little time consuming depending upon what you want to use and how you want to do it. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. As far as picking a tech though be careful they have a thorough understanding that encryption and protecting the network is important, I've seen many set up computers with remote access enable and not even so much as a password. That may cut it for a home network, but when medical files or billing information is at stake that is a different story all together.

Some weeks ago a company was providing my family and I internet connection, our TV channels etc. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiscali_TV )
It was DSL, broadband connection.
Now we are not paying for it since May, and I have a LAN connection which a whole buiding is using. I still have the same antivirus, and kept the same settings in windows, but there are some problems now:
- I can't reset my IP
- Downloading softwares, P2P softwares (like Limewire) are downloading with 0 kb/s
- Online games like Counter Strike or S.W.I.N.E are not working either. (Ex; for CS I get "Could not connect master game server to retrieve sever list" error message)
What should I do?
I hope I weel explained the question 'cos last time I was asking it differently, and many people misunderstood it.

I can't get dsl in my area and I only live 10 miles outside of the town. I only live 5 miles away from a community that has roughly 500 or more people and they don't have highspeed internet either. The nearest town that does have high speed internet doesn't have many more people if not the same. Also our community is in the center of 3 fiber enabled towns so it seems that we would benifit the internet company if they came into our area. I'm pretty sure that if someone told us how much it would cost to bring dsl in our area the community would pay for it to be brought into my area.

ISP's don't want you to run servers. Primarily most communication as far as web, etc, relies primarily on the ability of downstream more than upstream. Exception being online gaming, chat, etc where two way communication is necessary. For example when contacting a website you connect to it (using upstream), but after you connect the information from the page is sent via downstream (more information). I'm sure the ratio was established over time in thinking with the common protocols in use and the fact that as a consumer over a residential line you aren't supposed to be hosting servers (at least on most ISP's).

Generally speaking, users of the Internet consume more than they contribute, that is to say that they download more than they upload. ISP's don't want you to run servers. Primarily most communication as far as web, etc, relies primarily on the ability of downstream more than upstream. Exception being online gaming, chat, etc where two way communication is necessary. For example when contacting a website you connect to it (using upstream), but after you connect the information from the page is sent via downstream (more information). I'm sure the ratio was established over time in thinking with the common protocols in use and the fact that as a consumer over a residential line you aren't supposed to be hosting servers (at least on most ISP's).

I have always had good service with Verizon as they have great coverage, however AT%26amp;T has the 3G network which could be a little bit faster, so it's really a toss up. If it's speed, go for AT%26amp;T and if it is coverage, Verizon.

LinkSys router not forwarding WOL packet when all machines asleep.?
I'm unable to successfully send a WOL packet to my machines (which are behind a LinkSys BEFSW11 router) 0NLY IF both machines are asleep. If either of them is running, I can successfully wake the other with a properly formatted WOL packet from my machine at work. Router is configured to broadcast the WOL packet to all my machines, but it's as though the router never 'links up' with the cable modem if there's not a machine awake in my home network. Any ideas?

How can I remove my old broadband connection prompt?
I'm on a wireless network, but still have the old connection for the previous "broadband Connection" network installed. Even If I pick the Wireless Network to connect to, I intermittently get the prompt for "Broadband Connection" which of course is not hooked up, and causes me to have to close the prompt. I have replaced the router and still the same. My PC downstairs connects to the router wireless but cant see the internet but the PC upstairs that I connect into the NTL Modem can see the internet? Also when I contect the ethernet cable from the modem to the router the ethernet light comes on the modem. So to make sure I get my problem across. PC downstairs has the usb adaptor that came with router attached and I am able to see the Belkin via the wireless, The router is connected to the NTL Modem via ethernet cable and all I get is the modem symbol on the router flash orange but and able to surf the net when I plug my PC directly into the NTL Modem via a USB cable. Please help doing my head in.

because the problem is with the computer you have downstairs not the computer upstairs you need to configure it properly i had a similar problem with a netgear router for my computer when i was with virgin (ntl)
connect the downstairs computer directly to the computer with the ethernet cable and insert the set-up disc into the computer and launch the set up program once the computer is connecting with the modem and the internet you have its IP address on that computer now insert the USB adaptor for the wireless and go to configuration settings now choose the settings for wireless and have it configure that now unplug the ethernet cable and try the internet
if no joy ring up BELKIN direct and have them talk you through the set up process

i had the same problem but i was on netgear. try one of these. its either your LAN card on PC, or try uninstalling it and restalling it, if no luck try going back to a later restore point on your PC. or i put my xp service pack 2 in and that finally done the trick. good luck PS there's nothing wrong with your router if u still picking up on wireless.

I want to be able to stream music from and external hard drive, and access the music over the internet.?
The whole idea, is that i can copy my music to my external hard drive and somehow connect the hard drive to and Ethernet cable. Then i want to take my nokia n800, and be somewhere else and open up either the internet program or some other user interface and stream the music and play it on the n800. It also needs to be able to run independently from my computer, so that i can go on vacation and leave my computer off and just leave the hard drive and internet modem box and whatever else i have on, and be able to listen to my music on the internet tablet.

How good is verizon WiFi with low bars? And does WokFi work?
I have recently moved to an area were cable/dsl is not an option and sattalite net dont realy sound like a good deal for what i want, so i was wondering if the verizon WiFi cards run off of thier EV signal or on a seperate one? also i have had several phones get between 1 and 4 bars of EV in and around our house so im not sure if it would be worth it to purchase a card.
the second part of my question involves making a antenna with a can or Wok wich ive seen done with wireless cards connecting with wireless routers. so would it work if i used the same method with the verizon usb modem??
What im looking for is somthing to play games online with such as WoW and xbox live and i know that the latency with sattalite is realy bad! :(
so if anyone could try the antenna out and check thier speed while at 1,2,3 or 4 bars it would help a lot.

a wireless gaming adapter. I run a simular setup. I have a wireless router in my office. I have a bunch of equipment that is connected to the internet as well through the same router. I ran a wireless gaming adapter in the garage, it has 1 cat 5 jack on the back, I hooked that to a switch and connected five other devices to the switch. If you only have one thing to connect, you will not need the switch, just the gaming adapter.

Ok, I have a wireless internet connection to my Macbook and use that as bridge. I connect my Macbook to my Xbox 360 via ethernet cable. Now I can't use the automatic settings and I've gone through 10 google pages of guides, and still can't seem to get it to work. I can pass the IP address, but it fails at DNS. I have a linksys router if that's any help. Please don't search google and post the first guide you see, I will give the best answer to whoever can help me fix this. Remember, it fails at the DNS so DNS is the problem. And I'm not spending $100 on the adapter when a $250 wii comes with built in internet.

The hosts would first issue an ARP request when trying to contact each other by IP address (the ARP request basically says "Who has IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx?") The other client would receive the ARP request and respond to the request with its MAC address since it is that hosts IP address being requested.
This is a real cursory explanation, but answers your question I hope.

Check the connection log and see how many differant MAC addresses have connected. As for what they are doing. You need a fair bit of talent and the right software for that usually.
Reply:I go into my router settings. It lists the computer name and the MAC address of all machines connected to the network. Makes it easy to boot unauthorized people and ban their MAC address.
Reply:Are you running Norton 360? if so, go to my network, it will show you everything that uses your router.

May I suggest putting a password on your router to keep others from accessing it? It's very easy to do - you just need to go to your router's settings and set one up.

If you are asking about your own network, I would suggest that you encrypt your link (and change it regularly), hide the SSID, use an SSID which cannot be guessed and use MAC address filtering.

If you are asking about your own network, I would suggest that you encrypt your link (and change it regularly), hide the SSID, use an SSID which cannot be guessed and use MAC address filtering.
If you are using someone elses wireless network and are concerned that you may get caught... the simple solution is do not do it. It is illegal in most countries to steal someone elses connection.

The wireless on my laptop, if I search for like other wireless thingies active in my area and I connect to one that doesn't have a password on it and I get connectivity and can go on the internet and that, and a message comes up saying something like security issue, data may be viewed by 3rd party, etc etc... What exactly does that mean? Does that mean the person whose wireless I've connected to, they can see everything that I'm doing on my laptop? All the sites and details I'm using?

How can I get a better Xbox Live connection?
I currentley have my 360 connected to my wireless laptop via ethernet cable by bridging my connection, and the thing is, its extremely laggy. Im soon going to have my 360 connected to a router by an ethernet cable for a better connection, but I was also thinking about buying a wireless adapter for my 360 so it can pick up on my wireless router instead of using the cable. The main thing thats bugging me is which one is the fastest and most reliable, because I dont want to spend $100 bucks on a wireless adapter if its the same speed as a connected router.

Very hard question to answer. I have used Registry Booster, Registry Fix, Advanced Registry Doctor, Eusing Free Registry cleaner from China and CCleaner.
Every one of them found different problems and repaired. I was not worried, because there was always a restore point if a mistake was made I could restore the removed keys.
Registry First Aid crashed my PC, because it will find over 300 problems and then use a color coded system for you to decide which one to delete. (I did not like this color coded system).
One thing I can tell you for sure is that I go into my own registry and repair the problems that I see. As to where the software finds 392 problems, I have never seen on a manual basis in the registry where the problems are that are claimed to be found. (I deleted still and my system was stable up and running).

3. click the processes tab.
4. double click the CPU.
5. find if the "System Idle Process" is max.
6. if not right click and click end process.

Try optimizing Internet Exlorer Browser
a. Check first the version

1. Close IE

My linksys has speed booster and it worked with my old cable modem, but when I switched to at%26amp;t dsl, it won't recognize the modem.

I would call AT%26amp;T and find out how the service hands out IPs. Ask if it is PPPoE or DHCP or whatever. Router's are usually set to DHCP as default when you hit the reset button on the back. Get any server info you need then consult your router manual or call their support to set it up correctly.
