I have wireless net in my home (router in basemnt). What I need to connect Ethernet device on 2 floor to net?

a wireless gaming adapter. I run a simular setup. I have a wireless router in my office. I have a bunch of equipment that is connected to the internet as well through the same router. I ran a wireless gaming adapter in the garage, it has 1 cat 5 jack on the back, I hooked that to a switch and connected five other devices to the switch. If you only have one thing to connect, you will not need the switch, just the gaming adapter.

You don't need any "special" kind of adapter, just a wireless adapter. I find it's easier to stick to one brand though. For instance, if your router is a Linksys, it might be easier if your wireless adapter was a Linksys as well. However, it's not necessary. I have a friend who has a 2wire router, and three different branded adapters. Their network works just fine.

best thing is to buy another wireless router and connect that router to your basement router at second floor then u can connect from wireless router to ethernet, or you can buy a cable and connect through cable, but that would be a bit difficult.
