How can i stop disconnecting?

I use AT%26amp;T high speed internet. They sent my a router and an adapter. But i Keep Disconnecting when i play WoW or download things, Sometime just surfing the web. IT is really annoying and i have to reconnected it about every 5 minutes. How can i stop this? I bought all of those expensive adapters but they still disconnect. But if i use the internet cable, it doesnt. I use windows vista and the router is from AT%26amp;T, gateway i think. The adapter it orginally come with is 2wire.
How can i stop disconnecting?
usually its microsofts update's that do this

same problem happened for the netgear wg111v2 but then netgear produced a new patch to fix this, check the manufacturers site for a new patch

2 buildings 800 or so feet apart 1 has DSL 1 needs it how to get dsl to to the other building?

building 1 has surveillance and we will be adding surveillance cameras to building 2. Building 1 connected via the dsl modem. someone suggested getting a 5.6GHZ wireless router and then a point to point access dsl extender and then connecting it to building 2 that should be able to get the dsl to building 2 and then we can use our dvr to connect to the building 1. we would ultimatly connect the dsl modem to the router for this to work correctly. any suggestions on how to best get this accomplished. thank you
2 buildings 800 or so feet apart 1 has DSL 1 needs it how to get dsl to to the other building?
My place of employment has a similar setup with one building about 900 feet apart. They connected the two with a linksys wireless G router and a linksys Wireless access point in the second building...both units with Yagi antennas on the roof pointing directly at one another. This system works great for them and provide the link to our server and point of sale computers.

What is 1meg of internet speed when compared to mbps?

I am trying to get internet service and currently have 6mbps speed and want to switch with another carrier and they are telling me I will get 1.5meg speed and wanted to know what 1.5meg of speed is in Mbps?
What is 1meg of internet speed when compared to mbps?
mbps - megerbite per second

lower the meg

slower its gunna be

Goodluck
What is 1meg of internet speed when compared to mbps?
1.5meg is mbps. 1.5 is way slower than 6. id stick with 6 mbps.

meg = megabyte.

mbps = megabytes per second.
Reply:I do not know the exact conversion.. But if what you are saying is that on Connection A) you get 6 megabits, and Connection B) you can download at 1.5/megabytes per second.. Then connection B is faster.. Reason... I have a 16/megabit connection with 2/megabit upload.. my 2 megabit upload runs no faster than 250k a sec up and my 16 megabit download runs no faster than maybe 1500-1600 kb a sec. Thus connection B would be faster, at least with the information provided and my guesswork.
Reply:They are really the same thing - they are just trying to confuse you. MBPS stands for "mega bits per second" which is probably the same as another company saying "megs" of speed. Most broadband internet speeds range from 1 to 15 mbps - so 1.5 is on the slow side.

Cost of Networking a small Medical Office?

Can any IT pros tell me the average cost to network a small medical office.

I have 4 Dell computers and looking to buy a server. Looking at a wired network, server will require weekly back up, also looking to install some medical billing software. Also how much should IT support cost.
Cost of Networking a small Medical Office?
I worked for my dad (granted I have a lot of computer experience) and network 4 dell vostro's with a networked printer/fax/copier and an hp printer as well. They all work in harmony with each other with the basic sharing employed on vista. As far as communication between machines we use snapmail along with a vnc server for remote access etc. In all honesty, just to get a tech to come out to our area and work on the specialized printer (old irritating one) it was 200 bucks for about an hour of work. If you want to network your office (and you have even a little bit of spare time) read about how easy it is to network the computers. You can find numerous tutorials online. As far as backup just keep an external drive on one of the computers and designate that computer as the server. That way you can also take a backup home just in case of fire etc. Handy programs that you may look into is Retrospect (for backup), dell networking utility (comes with dells to network easily), vnc server (if you would like remote access).. etc. I wish I could give you more information but offhand I don't have it all with me. I would definitely google networking and things similar before you decide to pay a bunch of money for it. The main reason I would avoid a tech is because hiccups in a network are frequent. It's not good to have to stop your business and be unable to fix the problem yourself (not all problems, just the minor ones). As far as techs that I personally know that set up networks, between 70-100 an hour. With a network like yours it is not that it is difficult, it may be a little time consuming depending upon what you want to use and how you want to do it. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. As far as picking a tech though be careful they have a thorough understanding that encryption and protecting the network is important, I've seen many set up computers with remote access enable and not even so much as a password. That may cut it for a home network, but when medical files or billing information is at stake that is a different story all together.
Cost of Networking a small Medical Office?
cost will vary

1. Internet connection (400/month for T1 or 100-200 for DSL)

8 or 16 port switch (80-150)

2. cables, depending on length ( http://www.showmecables.com/showProducts... )

3. Server (Dell entry level 1500, this will vary depending on what you want configued also getting windows server 2003 installed you can create a shared drive for backup and also install the medical billing software)

Support could be anything from 80-200 an hour pr you can sign a contract for something lik 400-800 a month for emengencies and you can also pay for the initial setup for a set fee.

you can network printers and copier and scanner which can be an all in one machine (ricoh have a decent all in one small sized machines)

Its really hard to place a cost with so little info but this should get you going.

Need some help with LAN, please?

Hi!

Some weeks ago a company was providing my family and I internet connection, our TV channels etc. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiscali_TV )

It was DSL, broadband connection.

Now we are not paying for it since May, and I have a LAN connection which a whole buiding is using. I still have the same antivirus, and kept the same settings in windows, but there are some problems now:

- I can't reset my IP

- Downloading softwares, P2P softwares (like Limewire) are downloading with 0 kb/s

- Online games like Counter Strike or S.W.I.N.E are not working either. (Ex; for CS I get "Could not connect master game server to retrieve sever list" error message)

What should I do?

I hope I weel explained the question 'cos last time I was asking it differently, and many people misunderstood it.

Thanks for any help or advice !

P.S.: When our company had "technical difficulties" and TV-internet was not working we used the LAN connection (we always had it) and the problems were the same.

Is there any way that I can pay dsl providers to install dsl in my area?

I can't get dsl in my area and I only live 10 miles outside of the town. I only live 5 miles away from a community that has roughly 500 or more people and they don't have highspeed internet either. The nearest town that does have high speed internet doesn't have many more people if not the same. Also our community is in the center of 3 fiber enabled towns so it seems that we would benifit the internet company if they came into our area. I'm pretty sure that if someone told us how much it would cost to bring dsl in our area the community would pay for it to be brought into my area.
Is there any way that I can pay dsl providers to install dsl in my area?
give them time.. they will eventually get it there.

If you want high speed, for the time being, you would probably have to go by satellite. Doesnt matter where you are as long as you have a clear view of the sky south of you.

How do I run multiple copies of this game on the same computer? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Ok. I'm a game programmer and I don't know much about networking yet.

This MMO I play only allows you to have one copy of it running per computer.

I want to know a way to make it think I'm on multiple computers so I can play 2 characters at the same time.

I think it has something to do with needing multiple IP's.

To stop piracy
How do I run multiple copies of this game on the same computer? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
It could be built in to the software. Have you considered running the game on multiple virtual machines.
Reply:It may be that it binds via udp (as many games do). I am sure someone will correct me, but when I was programming in UDP (user datagram protocol) you bind to specific ports.. I could not write a program that would bind twice to the same port.. For example, if I binded to port 443 on the computer i was working on, i couldn't bind a second time, an exception would occur. That may be why it is not allowing you, but it wouldn't be at the mercy of the game but rather the network.
Reply:I would suggest using VMWare to run another instance of the application inside of a virtual machine, check out http://www.vmware.com/ for more information.

Dedicated Server (Windows Server 2003)?

I have a Dedicated server, with very high download speeds, and high specs. How do I host webpages from it?
Dedicated Server (Windows Server 2003)?
Install IIS(Internet Information Services), this will allow you to host Web as well as FTP sites, after you install IIS you can open the IIS snap-in that will allow you to define Web and FTP sites.

Why do ISPs offer 8 times more bandwith down than up?

It seems quite common for a company to offer 6Mb/s down and 800kb/s up. Why is this?
Why do ISPs offer 8 times more bandwith down than up?
ISP's don't want you to run servers. Primarily most communication as far as web, etc, relies primarily on the ability of downstream more than upstream. Exception being online gaming, chat, etc where two way communication is necessary. For example when contacting a website you connect to it (using upstream), but after you connect the information from the page is sent via downstream (more information). I'm sure the ratio was established over time in thinking with the common protocols in use and the fact that as a consumer over a residential line you aren't supposed to be hosting servers (at least on most ISP's).
Why do ISPs offer 8 times more bandwith down than up?
Generally speaking, users of the Internet consume more than they contribute, that is to say that they download more than they upload. Knowing this, Internet Service Providers, and the companies that develop network equipment, have designed networks to allocate more bandwidth to downloading from a few central sources than to uploading from many.
Reply:It's because the data going upstream and the data coming downstream are traveling through the same channel.

DSL and cable Internet each operate over a single pair of wires, and they use various techniques to split the signals into channels by frequency so that they can move more data at once. They divide these channels into groups for sending data upstream and for downstream.

Taking into account a normal user's web surfing habits, where a small string of data is used to request huge blocks of data, they then balance the upstream/downstream speeds against what will give the best service for the most customers.

Which broadband provider should I choose?Verizon or At%26amp;t??
I have always had good service with Verizon as they have great coverage, however AT%26amp;T has the 3G network which could be a little bit faster, so it's really a toss up. If it's speed, go for AT%26amp;T and if it is coverage, Verizon.

LinkSys router not forwarding WOL packet when all machines asleep.?

I'm unable to successfully send a WOL packet to my machines (which are behind a LinkSys BEFSW11 router) 0NLY IF both machines are asleep. If either of them is running, I can successfully wake the other with a properly formatted WOL packet from my machine at work. Router is configured to broadcast the WOL packet to all my machines, but it's as though the router never 'links up' with the cable modem if there's not a machine awake in my home network. Any ideas?
LinkSys router not forwarding WOL packet when all machines asleep.?
I have an idea, but no idea of how to fix it. Maybe since the arp cache is empty, it does not send a broadcast. Are there any arp cache settings on a linksys?

Another thought, maybe it is the cable modem that is 'snoozing' with no activity through it. Try to manage your router from the WAN side, then try the WOL and see if there is any difference.

A belkin router and suddenly it will not communicate with my NTL modem? Modem light on router flashes orange?

I have replaced the router and still the same. My PC downstairs connects to the router wireless but cant see the internet but the PC upstairs that I connect into the NTL Modem can see the internet? Also when I contect the ethernet cable from the modem to the router the ethernet light comes on the modem. So to make sure I get my problem across. PC downstairs has the usb adaptor that came with router attached and I am able to see the Belkin via the wireless, The router is connected to the NTL Modem via ethernet cable and all I get is the modem symbol on the router flash orange but and able to surf the net when I plug my PC directly into the NTL Modem via a USB cable. Please help doing my head in.
A belkin router and suddenly it will not communicate with my NTL modem? Modem light on router flashes orange?
ok

you have the settings on the modem wrong or the setup wrong

because the problem is with the computer you have downstairs not the computer upstairs you need to configure it properly i had a similar problem with a netgear router for my computer when i was with virgin (ntl)

connect the downstairs computer directly to the computer with the ethernet cable and insert the set-up disc into the computer and launch the set up program once the computer is connecting with the modem and the internet you have its IP address on that computer now insert the USB adaptor for the wireless and go to configuration settings now choose the settings for wireless and have it configure that now unplug the ethernet cable and try the internet

if no joy ring up BELKIN direct and have them talk you through the set up process
A belkin router and suddenly it will not communicate with my NTL modem? Modem light on router flashes orange?
i had the same problem but i was on netgear. try one of these. its either your LAN card on PC, or try uninstalling it and restalling it, if no luck try going back to a later restore point on your PC. or i put my xp service pack 2 in and that finally done the trick. good luck PS there's nothing wrong with your router if u still picking up on wireless.

I'm not on my Ubuntu machine at the moment, but I suggest installing the package ndisgtk. It's a graphical interface for ndiswrapper that will guide you through driver installation. You need to enable Universe in software sources, because this package is not officially supported by Canonical.

If you're still having problems, use an IRC client to connect to irc.ubuntu.org, and join the channel #ubuntu. The people in there are very helpful.

I want to be able to stream music from and external hard drive, and access the music over the internet.?

The whole idea, is that i can copy my music to my external hard drive and somehow connect the hard drive to and Ethernet cable. Then i want to take my nokia n800, and be somewhere else and open up either the internet program or some other user interface and stream the music and play it on the n800. It also needs to be able to run independently from my computer, so that i can go on vacation and leave my computer off and just leave the hard drive and internet modem box and whatever else i have on, and be able to listen to my music on the internet tablet.
I want to be able to stream music from and external hard drive, and access the music over the internet.?
You need to setup a webserver, then run that off of a NAS box, basically what you want is rather costly for a home user because you will need to basically host your own website.

How do I reset my wireless network adapter in Vista?

It fails to connect even when the other computer is working fine on the network! What is going on? It keeps saying "cannot connect to (my network name)" and gives me some options like "diagnose", but then says "there is still a problem"!

In XP I used to reset network adapter but I can't find that in Vista. Help!
How do I reset my wireless network adapter in Vista?
Do a search for device manager in help and support, open it through there, and expand the network adapters tree. Your wireless card ("adapter") should be listed, and you can disable/enable it.

And make sure you don't click uninstall instead of disable.

Actually, uninstalling the adapter and letting windows reinstall it after a reboot cures a multitude of problems. Only thing, you need to know the wep or wpa keys for your wireless router as these go as well.

Networking?

When setting up a [wireless] network between a notebook and a desktop:

Can I connect the router to the computer rather than the modom?

Or do I need to connect the router to the modom, and then get a card for my desktop?

The laptop has wireless built in, same networking standard as the router. I just don't know if I need to get an adapter for the computer, as well.

All I plan to use the networking for is internet; I don't really care about file sharing.
Networking?
You should connect the modem to the router (in the farthest left port) and then take another Ethernet cable and connect it to your computer in the place where you would connect the modem to the computer if you didn't have a router. And you should not need to buy a card for the PC or anything.
Networking?
Most wireless routers have ports for wires as well as the wireless part.

Pole----House---Modem---Router))) Laptop

Wire= ---- Wireless=)))

I drew you a little picture you understand now?

I
Reply:You have to connect the router WAN port to the DSL/cable modem provided by your ISP. You then connect to the router LAN ports (usually four exist on most brands of home wireless routers) using a wired connection (Ethernet cable) from your desktop or a wireless connection from your laptop. You can have both connected at the same time.

How good is verizon WiFi with low bars? And does WokFi work?

I have recently moved to an area were cable/dsl is not an option and sattalite net dont realy sound like a good deal for what i want, so i was wondering if the verizon WiFi cards run off of thier EV signal or on a seperate one? also i have had several phones get between 1 and 4 bars of EV in and around our house so im not sure if it would be worth it to purchase a card.

the second part of my question involves making a antenna with a can or Wok wich ive seen done with wireless cards connecting with wireless routers. so would it work if i used the same method with the verizon usb modem??

What im looking for is somthing to play games online with such as WoW and xbox live and i know that the latency with sattalite is realy bad! :(

so if anyone could try the antenna out and check thier speed while at 1,2,3 or 4 bars it would help a lot.

feel free to lend any info that may help!

thank you!!

I have wireless net in my home (router in basemnt). What I need to connect Ethernet device on 2 floor to net?

a wireless gaming adapter. I run a simular setup. I have a wireless router in my office. I have a bunch of equipment that is connected to the internet as well through the same router. I ran a wireless gaming adapter in the garage, it has 1 cat 5 jack on the back, I hooked that to a switch and connected five other devices to the switch. If you only have one thing to connect, you will not need the switch, just the gaming adapter.
I have wireless net in my home (router in basemnt). What I need to connect Ethernet device on 2 floor to net?
You don't need any "special" kind of adapter, just a wireless adapter. I find it's easier to stick to one brand though. For instance, if your router is a Linksys, it might be easier if your wireless adapter was a Linksys as well. However, it's not necessary. I have a friend who has a 2wire router, and three different branded adapters. Their network works just fine.
I have wireless net in my home (router in basemnt). What I need to connect Ethernet device on 2 floor to net?
best thing is to buy another wireless router and connect that router to your basement router at second floor then u can connect from wireless router to ethernet, or you can buy a cable and connect through cable, but that would be a bit difficult.

How do I access Xbox Live via Macbook?

Ok, I have a wireless internet connection to my Macbook and use that as bridge. I connect my Macbook to my Xbox 360 via ethernet cable. Now I can't use the automatic settings and I've gone through 10 google pages of guides, and still can't seem to get it to work. I can pass the IP address, but it fails at DNS. I have a linksys router if that's any help. Please don't search google and post the first guide you see, I will give the best answer to whoever can help me fix this. Remember, it fails at the DNS so DNS is the problem. And I'm not spending $100 on the adapter when a $250 wii comes with built in internet.

I want to know how routing works in an environment where two hosts are directly connected to a router?

which actually means they are two hosts(PCs) which have the same default gateway (the router in between them). they are no routing protocols involved. it is a simple ethernet setup.

thanks
I want to know how routing works in an environment where two hosts are directly connected to a router?
If the two hosts reside on the same subnet, indicated by the hosts having the same default gateway, then there is no routing involved and the router sits there doing nothing.

The hosts would first issue an ARP request when trying to contact each other by IP address (the ARP request basically says "Who has IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx?") The other client would receive the ARP request and respond to the request with its MAC address since it is that hosts IP address being requested.

This is a real cursory explanation, but answers your question I hope.

I want to know how routing works in an environment where two hosts are directly connected to a router?
it can't be true and routing will not happen

because u can't make 1 default gateway for 2 host connected directly to router , every host should connect to 1 port with one network in this port and 1 ip address and 2nd host connect to 2nd port with different network and different ip address than 1st host .

so if we want to coonect more than 1 pc on the same router we must use switch otherwise the 2 host can't connect to each other .

I hope i would help you in that

How do you know if someone's using your wireless?

Like you haven't password protected it and other people can connect to it, is there a way for you to find out if anyone else is using it? And can you see what they're doing?
How do you know if someone's using your wireless?
shud be slower dan usual
How do you know if someone's using your wireless?
Check the connection log and see how many differant MAC addresses have connected. As for what they are doing. You need a fair bit of talent and the right software for that usually.
Reply:I go into my router settings. It lists the computer name and the MAC address of all machines connected to the network. Makes it easy to boot unauthorized people and ban their MAC address.
Reply:Are you running Norton 360? if so, go to my network, it will show you everything that uses your router.
Reply:Put a password on the router if you dont want people to connect to it. And to find out if they are hacking turn off your computers that are authorized to use the router. If the activity light continues to flash then somebody is using your wireless connection.
Reply:I have a linksys and there's really no way to know except for if the Wireless indicator light is flashing.

And nope, you can't see what their doing just like that but it would be cool if you could.

May I suggest putting a password on your router to keep others from accessing it? It's very easy to do - you just need to go to your router's settings and set one up.
Reply:Logon to your router and you can check to see who's currently connected.

Although for security reasons you should really encrypt your router so no one could get on in the first place without your access key.
Reply:Log onto your router settings and see how many MAC address's you see.

Every computer has its own address
Reply:you should have lights on your modem or router

these will flash if your internet is working downloading or uploading

if they are and you are not using it

somebody is

is an easy way to see
Reply:It is not always that easy and it depends on your level of computer knowledge and competency. With the right skills it is possible.

If you are asking about your own network, I would suggest that you encrypt your link (and change it regularly), hide the SSID, use an SSID which cannot be guessed and use MAC address filtering.

If you are using someone elses wireless network and are concerned that you may get caught... the simple solution is do not do it. It is illegal in most countries to steal someone elses connection.

Ok so you know about using other people's wireless network?

The wireless on my laptop, if I search for like other wireless thingies active in my area and I connect to one that doesn't have a password on it and I get connectivity and can go on the internet and that, and a message comes up saying something like security issue, data may be viewed by 3rd party, etc etc... What exactly does that mean? Does that mean the person whose wireless I've connected to, they can see everything that I'm doing on my laptop? All the sites and details I'm using?

Thanks for any help
Ok so you know about using other people's wireless network?
it means that ANYONE who is looking can see everything that passes through the wireless router because it is not being sent encrypted through the air - your usernames, passwords, web addresses, credit card details even.

also in most places it's illegal to steal other people's bandwidth even if their router is unprotected as it falls under 'theft of service' - people will tell you 'hey it's their fault if they haven't protected it' but then those same people wouldn't climb into a stranger's car and drive off in it just because the owner didn't lock it. exact same principle. gotta love the consistency in morals of the mtv generation ey?

routers do contain logs with varying degrees of detail from logging everything that happens through it, to only logging which computers have connected to it, to only logging access to the router's configuration interface - it varies wildy.
Ok so you know about using other people's wireless network?
no not unless they scan packets. And it is legal to use an open wireless signal, the unspoken rule says that if it is unlocked you have opened it for public use. The message means that the network is hackable.
Reply:They probably haven't got a clue. Anyone using wireless without encryption and MAC address filtering is asking for trouble. If they knew about it, they'd take the simple steps needed to prevent it happening in the first place.
Reply:Various people leave networks open for various reasons - some are philanthropic, others provide a service, some are just too stupid to use a password - but some of the less-innocent ones sit there, wait for you to log on, and sniff your packets as you enter your details, passwords, and so forth.

What is client and server enviroment?

Client / server was a term coined in the late 80s / early 90s to distinguish distributed computer network topologies from the legacy, monolithic computing model typified by the mainframe.

The term has more or less no relevance now as a distinguishing feature since even mainframes adopted the client / server model in the end.

I dare say that if you type 'client/server' into Wikipedia you will find an article or two that would be relevant to your question.

How can I get a better Xbox Live connection?

I currentley have my 360 connected to my wireless laptop via ethernet cable by bridging my connection, and the thing is, its extremely laggy. Im soon going to have my 360 connected to a router by an ethernet cable for a better connection, but I was also thinking about buying a wireless adapter for my 360 so it can pick up on my wireless router instead of using the cable. The main thing thats bugging me is which one is the fastest and most reliable, because I dont want to spend $100 bucks on a wireless adapter if its the same speed as a connected router.

...Wired vs Wireless basically. Thnx

Is UniBlue Registry Booster any good? They say they found 392 problem errors (Registry entries)on my computer

If you want a reliable registry cleaner try CCleaner:

http://www.ccleaner.com/download

Very good, it gets rid of 99% of registry errors.
Is UniBlue Registry Booster any good? They say they found 392 problem errors (Registry entries)on my computer
Very hard question to answer. I have used Registry Booster, Registry Fix, Advanced Registry Doctor, Eusing Free Registry cleaner from China and CCleaner.

Every one of them found different problems and repaired. I was not worried, because there was always a restore point if a mistake was made I could restore the removed keys.

Registry First Aid crashed my PC, because it will find over 300 problems and then use a color coded system for you to decide which one to delete. (I did not like this color coded system).

One thing I can tell you for sure is that I go into my own registry and repair the problems that I see. As to where the software finds 392 problems, I have never seen on a manual basis in the registry where the problems are that are claimed to be found. (I deleted still and my system was stable up and running).

So let me just make sure i have got this right..... i can plug the wifi adaptor into my laptop (with wireless internest connection) and this will allow a wifi connection? i then can use wifi on like ipod touch and ds etc....? am i right?

i reading lots of different questions and website and gettng confussed and need help plz :-D

thanks to every1 in advance.
This May Sound Silly But I'm Getting Confused About The Wifi Adaptor...?
That USB Wi-Fi adapter will give you the ability to connect to a wireless access point, such as public Wi-Fi in a coffee shop, a router with a Wi-Fi antenna, or your neighbor's router. You do have to be within range and get permission of course.

Also, if you already have Internet service on your laptop you can add the USB adapter and share your Internet with your Wi-Fi equipped toys or other computers through Internet Connection Sharing, an advanced setting in the network properties control panel.

Am trying to install a belkin wireless g router, but says no connection to router, wat do i do?

When you set up the router for the first time you have to be hard wired into it with an ethernet cable. You can't do it wireless. Then you will be able to get in.

Why won't my linksys router work with my at&t Modem?

My linksys has speed booster and it worked with my old cable modem, but when I switched to at%26amp;t dsl, it won't recognize the modem.
Why won't my linksys router work with my at%26amp;t Modem?
I think the speed booster has nothing to do with the WAN side (AT%26amp;T.)

I would call AT%26amp;T and find out how the service hands out IPs. Ask if it is PPPoE or DHCP or whatever. Router's are usually set to DHCP as default when you hit the reset button on the back. Get any server info you need then consult your router manual or call their support to set it up correctly.
Why won't my linksys router work with my at%26amp;t Modem?
I would try the following:

1. connect your PC derectly to the modem and find out the IP address of the new service by using ipconfig command.

2. Compare it with your old ip address from the old ISP.

3. Check to see if your linksys router still have the old ip address. It might need to be released to optain a new IP
Reply:One other thing you need to check on. You should have the manuals for both the modem and the router, check what the default IP is on both units. My Linksys router was defaulting to the same address as the modem, which caused a network conflict. Simply changing the address on the router to be xxx.xxx.xxx.2 solved the problem, as the two units no longer shared a common address. The router would then ID the modem and everything was fine.

(When the two machines have the same address, the router does not see the modem, because it thinks that address is itself, which it is. The modem needs to have a different address than the router, so it will see it as a different device.)

Vista Problems (Online)?

Right now I am having connection issues. My laptop is able to connect through wired, however when I connect the same cord to my mom's computer, it is unable to connect. Says something about it can not identify the network. Anything I can do? I have never had this problem before and I think it has to do with the settings.
Vista Problems (Online)?
Try updating the device driver for the network adapter. Go to the manufacturers website, and they should have a driver download section. This is especially common with Broadcom internal network cards.

I just bought a router but why does it get to hot is it usual ?

It's called NETGEAR and it's unsecure do I have to put a password ? How ?

We have to computers at home and only one cable internet so I had to get this wireless thingy.
I just bought a router but why does it get to hot is it usual ?
Yes it is normal to run hot no worries, mine is very hot and I have had it going strong for 3 years. Yes it is recommended to secure it, the book that came with it should give you the login name and password, login to the router and change it. To login to a netgear router, in the web browswer type http://192.168.0.1. Login and navigate the menus.

***EDIT***

WIFI is not easy to hack if setup properly, first enable WEP encryption, adjust your DHCP scope to only allow the number of IP's that your home network has, for example 3 home PC's need access, only allow 3 IP's to be assigned. You can setup MAC filtering, that way only the computers with the assigned MAC address can access, (this is like your pc's social number). Finally the final piece of the security, TURN OFF BROADCASTING. This way when you go to wireless finder, yours does not show up, you have to know the name of the network and manually type in the name. If you do these steps your wireless network is UNBREAKABLE, GUARANTEED. And if someone believes that it is, you are more then welcome to come on over to my place and I will give you a grand if you can break into my network.
I just bought a router but why does it get to hot is it usual ?
Shouldnt be a problem getting warm.

Setting up a password is up to you. Instructions are on the back of the router.

If i were you, i wouldnt bother with wifi. Just run a ethernet cable to your other pc and shut off the wifi. wifi is too easy to hack.
Reply:WEP encryption is so EASILY hacked. Use WPA security. As for the router getting hot, thats not really a problem unless it starts to fail.

About dsl modems?

i was wondering if i could hook up 2 dsl modems on the same phone line using 2 separate phone jacks
About dsl modems?
most likelyn not, it all depends on your phone line, but according to the tech. from VZ the modem has to connect.
About dsl modems?
You should consider getting a router if your trying to hook two separate computers up to the dsl. Getting two dsl modems won't increase your internet speed if that's what your getting at...
Reply:NO, but you could get cable service and that will be even better then 2 dsl modems. But if you really need 2 dsl modems you can get a second line installed to your house, but this would not be very cost affective for the speed and service.
Reply:NO.

The second modem would not work without paying for a second service, which may or may not be possible in your area, depends on what type of wires are coming into the house.

Most people who want to have a second modem, are trying to get internet service at more than one location in the house.

The best way to do this is to purchase a wireless router, which will cost far less than a modem, and you then install the router between the existing modem and the computer. You can then use a wireless adapter in a second, third, fourth, etc, computer to access the same internet connection that the main computer is using.

A good 802.11G router will cost $50 or less, and you can get a decent USB adapter for the computer for under $20.
Reply:No. Only one DSL "modem" can use the subscriber line at a time. The standard way to let multiple computers share a DSL connection is to use a router that establishes a connection between the DSL modem and a local Ethernet, Powerline, or Wi-Fi network on the customer's premises.
Reply:I had never heard of trying such a thing...

I remember being set to a specific model/home/line/account and all dedicated service. Try it and see because I curious to find out!

Port being spammed (out connections)?

Recently I stumbled upon a log on the home network admin's computer.

These logs all had my local IP address, but one thing alarmed me.

Overwhelmingly, many, many connections were going outward to many many IP addresses over UDP on port 38374.

There are five logs, each at least 15 pages worth of my IP sending out connections.

What can I do to stop this permanently? What is possibly doing this? and why?

If there is an internet activity monitor that helps me with this, It would be seriously appreciated.

My IP is recorded at least three times more than any of the other two computers on the network, so something could be taking advantage of my internet (hidden advertisement link-click schemes, etc)
Port being spammed (out connections)?
Run Spybot search and destroy, avg antivirus and remove any malicious programs... if for some odd reason the communication continues, block the port on your computer using a firewall.
Port being spammed (out connections)?
It sounds like you have a virus/trojan which is making all of these outbound connections.

Go to a command prompt and execute "netstat -ao". This will list all connections/ports on your computer and list the processes owning them. If you see several UDP/38374 connections check which process owns them and then investigate that process.

Do you have antivirus installed?

My default username and password (admin) do not work...please help?

I am having trouble logging onto my wireless router page, and am told to just reset the router, but am concerned about having to re-install because I don't have a disc for my wireless adapter. Is there a way to retrieve the username and password without having to reset it?
My default username and password (admin) do not work...please help?
if you reset a router, You don't have to install it again..

It just resets the settings.

Also, every piece of software is available online.
My default username and password (admin) do not work...please help?
seems like you wanto hack someone else's router haha

If you don't have the disc you can download the driver for that router from its official website.

Besides that I think there's no option to retrieve passwords
Reply:Resetting the router will not uninstall your network adapter on your computer.

Accessing Xbox Live?

Satori firmware bridging problem with WRT54G v1?

I'm trying to set up a Linksys WRT54G v1 router as a bridge to a Siemens Gigabit router, using upgraded Satori-4.0 v2.07.1.7sv firmware for the Linksys to set it in client mode.

I'm following notes posted on the www.anandtech.com site but that suggests using alchemy firmware.

What's happening is that after setting the linksys ip address, operating mode to gateway, wireless mode to client, setting the ssid to the Gigabit routers ssid, and setting the WEP passphrase to the same, i still don't get an ip address assigned to the linksys by the Gigabit router.

Any ideas ?

Linksys needs certificate?

Okay so recently, i got a Linksys Router (WRT54G) %26amp; i connected it to the computer downstairs that is running through the cable modem. Everything works fine on that computer. However, when i try to connect on my other computers it tells me that it needs a certificate. I've entered the Encyrption key in order to get onto it, but then it pops up at my little computer and tells me "windows cannot connect because it needs a certificate",

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

However, i've already tried linksys support site and that did not help. So. =\
Linksys needs certificate?
downgrade your encryption to WEP from WPA, that would be the first place to start, especially if the computer that is having trouble is a little older than the others

How can i optimize my broadband connection/speed using regedit? im a newbie..?
Go to this site an ddownlaod a speed optimizer:

www.majorgeeks.com

Do not play with the registry yourself.
Reply:I would not recommend tweaking with your registry. BTW - you're netwok (broadband) speed will be governed by your broadband connection more than anything. Most network cards are gigabit cards now-a-days. And the CAT 5/6 cable that you have connected to your router / modem can support higher transfer speeds than your connection. TCP/IP network is TCP/IP networking...
Reply:I would leave regedit alone, newbie's should not play in there. You can really do some damage if you do not know what you are doing and I would NOT take advise, if you are gonna play in regedit....know your stuff.

Do you think cox is capping my connection?
Their servers are probably buisy during the day becuase there are a lot of people using it, but faster during nighttime because no one uses it then.

I think your downloading way to much and might be under FBI investigation. BEcause they know your downloadign too much they think its illegal and will limit your connection so you dont download more while they are investigating you .

Remote Desktop Connection Errors?
your router is not set to port forward too the ip of the computer , or you did not crate a static IP in the network card and point the forward to in the NAT , anyways there is a much easier and safer way

http://www.crossloop.com

no you do not need to create a account !! ( but you should )

if you have any questions feel free to IM me
Remote Desktop Connection Errors?
I had the same problem. You might want to check the router and see if NAT is being filtered. If it is, try temporarily turning it off and see if you can connect.

Network Address Translation allows a single device, such as a router, to act as an agent between the Internet (or "public network") and a local (or "private") network. This means that only a single, unique IP address is required to represent an entire group of computers.

To check if NAT is enabled you need to log into you router. For a Linksys router type 192.168.1.1. After you login you will see security. When you click on that you will see some check boxes one of which will be filter internet NAT redirection. Uncheck it and try using remote desktop.

I can't say how to check it on any other routers but it should be similar.

At&t Internet?

My internet is working at all, but the yellow ethernet cable prevents my laptop from being mobile.

Is there anyway I can move the ethernet cable but still have internet?
At%26amp;t Internet?
You will need a wireless connection of some kind. Find out if your DSL or cable box has a wireless built in. If not, you will need to get a wireless router to act as a base station. Also, find out if your laptop already has wireless built in, or get a wireless card to plug into the slot.

How to connect to a router?

how do you set up a wired connection to a router with windows vista??? i want a better connection to my router without interference.
How to connect to a router?
Wireless connection requires a wireless network adapter installed in the laptop. wired connection is disconnected when the Internet cord is unplugged
How to connect to a router?
There should be a setup disk that came with the router. Use that to configure the router. When you do, the default is Channel 6. Change it to Channel 1. That will remove some interference. If you don't have a disk, go to the router website (Linksys, D-Link, etc.) and get instructions for setting-up the router.

When you disconnect the cable from the router, you would have to have a wireless card installed to make a connection. So, the answer is no, your computer will not connect automatically when you unplug.

Good luck.

Is it possible to connect my modem in my friends room to access xbox live if he doesnt have interent?
use a router - not a modem.
Is it possible to connect my modem in my friends room to access xbox live if he doesnt have interent?
You need an internet connection to utilize Xbox Live...

Maybe you should play with some wooden blocks or a slinky. That's a little easier.
Reply:Unless your friends room is right next to yours i doubt it. Most modems/routers especially wireless ones will only work in a certain area or coming from a specific phone jack.

But don't give up call your internet service provider and ask it can't hurt!
Reply:no, you will not be able to connect to the internet.

I need help with a wireless network adapter.?

I had to completely reinstall Windows and all the programs on my dell xps m1530 laptop. Now, when I try to connect to the internet, it says, "this computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured." The internet used to work and now it doesn't. I was previously using a linksys router and now I can't get internet on my laptop. Is there something I can download somewhere? I don't know what to do. I have said exactly what it told me.

you need to install wireless NIC drivers in your computer

Networked Computers?

What would you say are the advantages and disadvantages of networked computers? And what are the similiar characteristics of the internet and a group of networked computers?
Networked Computers?
access to network resorces, printers, files, and roaming user profiles.

I can go to any computer on the network and have access to all the printers, all the files, and my desktop is the same on the kitchen computer as the workshop computer and my laptop. When another user logs on it is the same for them across the network.

Is there any way for me to somehow connect or create a 'network'...?

between my macbook and my pc, I just want it for retrieving photographic or music files from my computer to my mac, how could I do this? - Keep in mind lack of ports on both, but next month I will have wifi so can I just connect an ethernet cable between the two? - I have no idea how this works!
Is there any way for me to somehow connect or create a 'network'...?
If you have Ethernet on both computers (PCI Ethernet cards are 'a dime a dozen' if you don't) you can run a cable between the two and they will automatically set themselves with made-up IP addresses so they can find their neighbors. Then you can turn on Windows file sharing on at least one of them so you can have a common folder to drag files in and out of.

How can I Share files and printer in local network between vista and xp?

Wireless adapter question?

when i switch my wireless adapter to use the windows wireless software and try to connect to my home network an error message comes up that says it can't connect even though the router is in the room next to mine. And when i use the adapter software it connects fine. how can i fix it so i can connect with the windows software. and by the way i have a linksys router and wireless card.
Wireless adapter question?
You don't say what version of Windows though, and that is the important thing here !

There are some services which need to be enabled to use the Windows software, which is something like wireless zero configuration when using XP and WLAN auto config when using Vista.
Wireless adapter question?
In XP...

View Available Wireless Connections.

If it says "Windows cannot configure...", click "Change advanced settings", Click Wireless Networks tab, checkmark in "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings". Click OK. Now try to view Connections again and set it to automatically connect to the one you want. You may need to disable the program that came with your adapter.

What sort of modem to buy?

I'm looking into getting a broadband connection with AT%26amp;T. On the offer that I am looking at, it says that it will give a $50 rebate to go with a modem (doesn't say whether I will have to buy the modem from an affiliate of them or not).

Also, I have friends with Comcast and Yahoo that have complained about the modems lent to them by their service providers. Most of my friends only used the modem for a year or so, and it would bug out -- and require them to reset the modem (more often than once an hour).

I may be getting confused with routers, as far as the story goes, but I'm pretty sure that they said the modems were problematic. I do know the difference between them, by the way. :P

So... I wonder: Is there a certain sort of modem that I should look into buying? I don't want to get a used one from my ISP.. with various complaints that I have heard about.
What sort of modem to buy?
Get a cable modem...8 mbs of downloading time...thats crazy compared to the normal 700 kbs....its worth the price i love them
What sort of modem to buy?
You're gonna have to go with what they give you unless you have DSL streaming straight from the wall. You can try a Gateway type of router, but most ISPs won't support it. You might as well get their modem, and if you want to hook up more than one computer consider getting a router from either Linksys, Netgear, or D-Link.

Give a brief description of the PING troubleshooting tools and usage.?

PING command is used to troubleshoot connectivity problems between your computer and another computer or a printer. It will help you diagnose where the problem is located and whether to see which computer is the culprit. All it does is send 4 packets to the recipient and tell you if it's received or not. Or you can send continuous packets to test the connectivity speed before it drops.

Is There A Router That has A speed Of 100.00 instead of 54.0?

I wanna buy a router that goes as fast as when its wired
Is There A Router That has A speed Of 100.00 instead of 54.0?
Look for the 802.11g routers. They'll register speeds of up to 100mb
Is There A Router That has A speed Of 100.00 instead of 54.0?
THE BE WIRED
Reply:Use Wireless-N. They offer faster speeds and better range. Note that you need to change all your existing wireless equipment though.
Reply:syndream is wrong, if u want a router that has a speed more than 54mbps then get a wireless N router they have speeds up to 300mbps!!!! its the new wireless N technology its as good as being wired...
Reply:There are 108 megabit. I have a linksys 108 thats pretty fast. They are pretty standard now, not really much more than the 54 megabit.
Reply:Unless you intend to do lots of things on your local LAN (files sharing, gaming), or have a really large house and need a lot of wireless coverage, YOU WILL BE WASTING YOUR MONEY! No matter how fast your traffic moves on your local LAN, it will go no faster to the internet than your cable or DSL connection. Even the new high speed stuff is no more than 45Mb, and that cost big bucks.

Wireless G is sufficient for most homes and situations.

Wireless signal on imac?

I wanna know why dont i get signal on my imac if i have a router in my house, its in my living room, my husband has a window comp and his does get a signal and all the laptops which are windows also, and his comp its in our room same place where mine is at, what do i need for my imac to get a signal??
Wireless signal on imac?
First, are you sure you have wireless in that iMac? The newer ones all do, but older ones may not.

Second, is it on? Make sure it's on and see what you can see in the Network Preferences.

Why can't I hard reset my linksys router?

I have a linksys WRT54G linksys router and I cannot reset the router. At first I was just trying to get rid of the encryption by pressing the reset button on the back for 30+ seconds, which did nothing. I then tried to login to the router and change the encryption that way; now the router doesn't even show up as a selection. Is there any option or is the router trash?
Why can't I hard reset my linksys router?
It must be broken, I reset mine all the time and it works.

I just hold the little button for 15 seconds or so, and it resets.
Why can't I hard reset my linksys router?
unplug it and plug it back in and then tryed
Reply:Try to hold the button longer. Also, I am thinking you may have reset the router, and now it shows up with a generic linksys name in your network list. Also you can try unplugging it for a couple of minutes and letting it reset.
Reply:hi arron, if words can be used for linksys by zyxel now let me tell you arron i am very advanced in pc repair but this was one company that no matter what i could not get it to work so i called my internet provider and they sent out their tech support and we worked for two days and that was six hours per day and still we could not get it to work. don't envy you but i can tell you what i can do their support e-mail support@zyxel.com or their phone number was1-800-978-7222. hope this helps ya but what we did was got a local dial up the bill cost us twenty bucks a month but it beats fighting with that peice of junk no offence to you but i am prejudice toward that company for wasting my time. good luck wish i could help you more and i hope i was helpful now

Hooking up two wireless routers to one modem?

here is my situation:

I have very weak connection with xbox live in my house because people on the four computers are constantly downloading things and using up the signal before it reaches my console. i want to stop lagging out of games. Here is my solution i want to by another wireless router to hook to that modem that will solely go for the xbox 360. will this work. Both routers will be really close to each other. Will it result in weaker connection for both.
Hooking up two wireless routers to one modem?
DUDE IT WILL STILL LAG CAUSE U ARE STILL USING THE SAME CONNECTION. IT IS STILL GOING THROUGH THE SAME PHONE LINE OR CABLE LINE
Hooking up two wireless routers to one modem?
He is right and WRONG!

Okay..

It is the same connection. It is the same going through the telephone line.. But, the data is going very fast. So, you almost have unlimited speed. So, it wont lag with two routers.

Wireless isn't that good for Xbox Live. Gameplay is soo big, it takes long to get to the wireless router. Also, the intenna cannot take a lot. It will be better if it was wired. It moves faster. Even if you have the one wireless router, close to the xbox 360, get a 5 foot ethernet cable, and plug it in. It will have a stronger connection.

You can get another router. But, if you have one router already, it may be hooked up through ethernet in the modem. I beleive it only has 1 ethernet, and 1 usb connection. If it has 1 ethernet, then try to get a USB router. The input will be a USB 2.0 connection. Beside an ethernet port.I really don't know your setup.. If you can, please edit details and message me asap.

Another thing is, you can limit the speed the other computers have, so you will have some speed too. Usually, to get in your router configuration, open Internet Explorer and type 192.168.1.1

That shoudl go to it. If you need a password, you can put admin for the username and admin for the password. Or, search on Google for the model number of the router.

Like "Netgear WGR614 default password"

Or, go into your modem settings..

Same goes for modem. But, go on google, and search what is my ip. Click the first link. Then, copy and paste that IP address into a internet explorer. It will go to your modem configuration. If you need a password, and you never set it, search on Google.

Good Luck

But, two routers will work.. I have 3 on the same DSL modem.

Changing from Windows 2000 to Ubuntu 8.04 LS and keeping my charter modem (through USB port)?

I am thinking of changing my OS to Ubuntu and i am wondering, if i change it, will i be able to keep my charter router connected to the USB port, since my computer doesn't have a Ethernet port, and i am not planning to have to have to buy a new port, and, how hard is it to install Ubuntu?
Changing from Windows 2000 to Ubuntu 8.04 LS and keeping my charter modem (through USB port)?
It should work, yes. And Ubuntu is very easy to install, probably one of the easiest of the Linux distributions. But make sure all your hardware can support Ubuntu because I made the mistake before of installing it without verifying and it turned out that my graphics card wasn't compatible with the OS, and I was stuck with an X server error .

Yes you can. If both PC's have a wireless connection you can use them to connect together. See http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using...

Can I network three computers that are not connected to the internet?

I have three desktop computers. One is connected to the internet. The other two are only used for data entry. I want each to share the same software program, and interact with the other.

Can I network computers that are not 'online'???

I would like a self contained server setup for my home.

Thanks!
Can I network three computers that are not connected to the internet?
You can but you need a device such as a switch or hub do do this.

If you are using a wireless box to connect to the Internet there may be spare network connections on the device that connects you to the internet.

If you only had 2 PC's you could connect them directly using a single cable.

Microsoft have a home server option see http://www.microsoft.com/windows/product...

but if you just want to share data try http://www.lacie.com/us/products/range.h...

Is there a way to work "off line" in XP home windows?

Other than turn off the modem or pull the telephone cable plug out? Don't want my computer uploading when it is not being manned.
Is there a way to work "off line" in XP home windows?
you can limit the programs that access the internet using a firewall... i personally use Kerio Personal Firewall free...

you can also disable the network by right clicking the network icon and clicking "disable" to enable it, go to control panel then 2click the network connections icon then right click the appropriate network icon and select "enable".

Whats a wifi amplifier? and how can i make one? and how do i use it?

we are going traveling and i want to be able to have internet access all the way. without having to buy a air card i already have a wireless card but its not strong so is there any way i can increase the signal but i still would like to know how to make the amplifier thank you i really would appreciate your help
Whats a wifi amplifier? and how can i make one? and how do i use it?
a regular wireless card for home use will not allow you to get wireless access everywhere, *unless you are talking about going to wireless hotspots*

(if you're wanting to send your home router signal across the country to your computer by amplifying it , that is not possible)

there are such things as wireless extenders (sort of amplifiers, but actually more like repeaters) they still don't extend the range more than about 100- 200 ft and you still need to go to a wireless hotspot anyway and they have to allow you to hook it up also

there isn't a way to make an amplifier to reach across the country, cost is prohibitive

there are wireless internet cards and cell phones, from cell phone service providers which allow internet access from areas where their cell phone access reaches
Whats a wifi amplifier? and how can i make one? and how do i use it?
I think making one is illegal depending on what state your in ( FCC compliant issues ) but you can buy one relatively cheap. You'll have to find free WiFi access while your there though.

If I have a single computer with a dsl modem in one room in the house, how do I connect another computer to in

how do I connectanother computer to the internet if I already have one connected via a dsl modem?
If I have a single computer with a dsl modem in one room in the house, how do I connect another computer to in
You will need to get a router or a switch.
If I have a single computer with a dsl modem in one room in the house, how do I connect another computer to in
The best thing would be to buy a router ( I like Linksys, great customer service ) and connect your DSL modem to it and connect both of your machines into the router or connect with a wireless adapter.
Reply:Buy and attach a wireless router and configure it, and install a wireless NIC into the other computer in the other room. That should be the easiest way.
Reply:hi robit, just got done with a guy that is having the same problem now i can tell you to get a new modem that is for that then i can tell you to get a new router and an adaptor to make me sound like i know what i am doing and beleive robit i am very adanced in pc repair but i am not going to do it because if i give advice i want something that i can beleive that i am helping you if i can. what i would do is and this is what we did is call our local dialup connection and they brought in another modem and it cost us twenty bucks a month. it just don't work i worked for a week before i called my internet provider and tech an i worked for two days before we all gave up. of course they covered themselves by blaming my computer but called a computer repairman and he said that he could not find nothing wrong. so before you spend the kind of money that we did think wouldn't it be better to get something that you know will work? at least before you spent the money you got some outstanding advice. but then who am i gave people advice before and they didn't listen to me so good luck hope i was helpful to you. hope you don't ignore words of wisdom

Does anyone know anything about Wireless routers? I bought one but it isn't working consistently?

Hey, can anyone help me out with this wireless router problem? It works when I connect it up and all the lights are green but after a while the connection light goes red

It is a Belkin ADSL2+ Modem with Wireless 802.11g Router

54 Mbps / 2.4 Ghz
Does anyone know anything about Wireless routers? I bought one but it isn't working consistently?
Sounds like an internal wiring problem. Have a look at this site for info on checking your wiring. (Don't worry if it's not for your ISP, the wiring info applies to ALL adsl connections.)
Does anyone know anything about Wireless routers? I bought one but it isn't working consistently?
Go to the Belkin support website and make sure you have the latest firmware version for your model. That is the single greatest cause of frequently losing connections.

How do I get my windows network working properly?

So I have a cable modem hooked up to my wireless router... I have 3 computers running... one is a file server, one is a laptop, and the other is my desktop.

My laptop and file server are both on the same network in the same network group and file sharing works fine...

However my desktop cannot connect to the same windows network as my laptop and file server... The desktop is apparently on the same network, but when I try to get it to connect so I can see other computers on network it will take a few minutes and then tell me that I do not have authority to access this network, please contact the network administrator... Ive tried so many things and none of them have worked... what is wrong? and how do i permantely remedy this problem?

fwiw I believe I have had my desktop connected to the network before but now it wont connect to the windows network..

also if this is not clear, my desktop gets on th einternet fine and everythings its just the file and print sharing im having problems
How do I get my windows network working properly?
I found some info on the site below, but I'll try to condense it. See the link for the details.

Try Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt and type:

netsh winsock reset catalog

Then type:

netsh int ip reset [log_file_name]

Example: netsh int ip reset reset.log

They may not connect after rebooting. Press %26lt;F5%26gt; several times to refresh in MS Windows Network to see if the other systems appear.

If this works, you might want to thank the guys at the link below. Hope this helps...
