How do I fix my wireless Internet Connection?

I have a Windows Vista Premium. It is a new computer indeed. I am connecting to a wireless router connected to 3 other computers. 1 computer is connected wired (Windows XP), 2 others are connected wireless. (1 XP, 1 Vista Prem). My problem is, when I do connected, I am connected for only 3 minutes. My computer then reconnects about a half a minute late. It says "Gathering IP address", "Connected with limited access", "Connected". Then it repeats itself. How do I fix this problem?

How are away from the router are you ?? Is it a weak signal cause if so it will drop on and off as it goes out of range

How many bars does this computer have vs. the other computers that are wireless? You could be on the edge of the signal causing it to be unreliable. To increase your signal you could try putting something reflective behind your omni antenna's on your router making sure you do not block the signal between the omni and your computers. Try moving the computer close to the router to see if it does the same thing. If it does not do the same thing closer to the router (perhaps in the same room as the router) then you know it is a signal issue.
Reply:Is it only dropping on the wireless connections? If it's dropping on the even the wired connection, then you have a DSL line problem.

If it's just the wireless, then move the base station away from any cordless phones or other electrical equipment. Cordless phones run on 2.4 ghz, the same as wireless internet, this can cause it to drop off.
