How do I set up a wireless printer to work with my laptop?

I want to buy the Lexmark X4530 Wireless All-in-One Printer/Copier/Scanner which has built-in 802.11g wireless technology. I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop with built-in 802.11g wireless technology. I have a desktop set up in the other room with a DSL box running to it and a Netgear router routing the internet to my laptop. I dont use the desktop its just set up for wireless basically. How will the wireless printer work for me? I want to be able to print from my laptop is this possible? Please help!

yes it will work fine, but i would reccomend a HP instead, something like the C4385 (its about $120) Lexmark printer's suck big time. You can set the hp using your desktop or manually via the front panel on the printer

OK, in this picture, your desktop PC doesn't have to be there to make the networking work. It is the Netgear router who makes the network available to you. Now you have 3 LAN devices:

1. the desktop which is connected to Netgear router by ethernet (wired);

2. the laptop which is connected to Netgear router wirelessly;

3. the new wireless printer connected to Netgear router wirelessly.

As long as your netgear router doesn't set "wireless isolation" (by default it is NOT set), your wireless devices can talk to each other through the router. That said, your laptop should be able to print through your wireless printer, provided both are configured correctly.
