What technical info does a cable ISP identify its customers by?

Is it MAC address? If it receives a MAC address not on file, will it provide service?

Yep, its the MAC number. Whether you'll get service on other numbers depends on your ISP. Some limit you to a certain number of unique numbers, whereas others let any number be used.

If you have problems, contact your ISP. If they know its you trying to connect on other computers rather than a connection thief, they'll likely be happy to enable them for you.

exactly its the MAC address it is hard coded in the modem u use if u change your modem your MAC address changes so the cable ISP also uses a username which most probably can also be used as an email address to identify a customer.
Reply:The mac address which is blown into your nic and the IP that they give you.
