i tried to play on xbox live last night while my wife was on the internet on the laptop. it worked for a little while but eventually both of us got kicked of the internet. signal strenght was good on both. do i need to change a setting on my router? does nat have anything to do with it?
Can a wireless router work for 2 different computers?
no NAT has nothing to do with it but yes its possible that the settings for the router are set to only do wireless for 1 PC and you just need to change that setting. though your going to have a faster and more reliable connection if you use a cat 5e cable

If you're going to have a game system on wifi (like WII...i love it!) Might i suggest you get a Linksys-N wireless router. I have no problems. When dealing with a network, the network is only as strong/fast as it's weakest link. So you need to consider not only your wireless router, but also the NIC cards in the xbox and labtop. If anything is B, then the whole network will really only push out 11MBPS not it's 54MBPS.
Wi-fi on an N network is 300MBPS. Much nicer for online gaming. I would have to bet the xbox is what slowed everything down, cause all the connections together around the world could slow things down with the PING rate. Also, if you know you have a fast network, host the game yourself. That would give you the best connection, since you'd only be connect to yourself, while everyone else would connect to you.
There are so many different ways to get the best speed/signal from your router. I'm sure you can figure something out...
Anyways, Good luck
