Firstly i'm not a big technical person so please bear with me.
Ok i have 2 pc's sharing dsl.. 1 modem and 1 router. The problem is i cannot connect to the other pc via windows remote connect or any other program of that type.I have had problems with my router on the basis that it finds a ip address automatically and then the modem that has a set ip will not allow a "bridge" out? ..Anyway it kinda seems that i have a i.p that is used by both pc's but for the main pc it also has the old i.p along with it ..now im not sure if that is correct or not but it's my only guess..
So any i.p i try to use to connect to the other pc doesn't work..and using the computer name is hopeless as well.
I've also tried programs that searchers for other pc's on my network an that has not worked as well...could this be the router blocking me? it's a linksys and the modem is a westell 6100
Any help would be great
Remote connect to a pc on the same network?
Does the PC you can't connect to have a password set for the user who is logging on?

Remote connect to a pc on the same network?
Ah, I had one of those..
If you are using a hub (my guess is that you are), then you have to enable remote desktop in computers advanced settings.
Right click My Computer, Select Properties.
Select Advanced System Settings.
Be sure the Remote Desktop incoming connection is enabled.
Also, be sure you are on the same workgroup. Vista will automatically detect different workgroups. To do this:
Right click My Computer, Select Properties.
Select Advanced System Settings.
Under name look for the Workgroup (default is mshome)
When connecting in remote desktop DO NOT type the double back-slash (\\) before the name.
Hope this helps.
