How can I split my cable without losing my internet connection?

I have a T.V. right next to my modem and want to split the cable so I can watch and be online at the same time. I bought a coax cable splitter 40-2150mhz from radioshack and it worked fine for a month but completely stopped. Its not my ISP and it's not my cables, it has to be the splitter.

So how can I split my cable without losing too much signal strength to my modem? Is there any way to boost it?

Thanks

Well, if you've tested the cables and are 100% they are good, go back to the shack and ask them if the splitter you bought was the correct one for the job......if it worked for about a month, maybe it had a defect...

Sounds like a bad splitter. There are powered splitters you can buy that will boost the signal after it is split. You could try one of those.
Reply:Yes, sounds like a splitter. I have Shaw cable/internet. From my wall jack, they have it split - 1 to the cable modem, the other to my "tv" (which I have then split a bunch more times). Seems to work fine. So, must be your splitter that is faulty.
