Beginners wifi question?

My notebook automaticaly makes a wifi connection when I start it up. This may sound dumb but how do I actually launch my browser to surf the Net using my wifi connection? If I launch Internet Explorer, it automatically connects via broadband - how do I launch the browser using wifi?
Beginners wifi question?
Yes, but you are connecting to broadband via your wifi, rather than through the computer being connected directly to the phone line, for instance if you were using BT Home Hub, this could be in one room, connected directly to the phone line, but your notebook in another room, accessing the hub remotely by wifi.
Beginners wifi question?
If you have a network cable plugged in, the system automatically picks that connection. Disconnecting the cable will force the notebook to use the wireless connections.

Or go into your Network Connections screen and disable the network adapter.
Reply:Actually, it sounds like it really is running WiFi. Is there also an Ethernet cable hooked up?

From what you said, it is working perfectly. Why do you want to change it to something that will run slower and less reliable?
Reply:Keep in mind that Wifi is just a label. Broadband is the connection type (i.e. Cable, DSL, FiOS.) Don't let the label confuse you.
