What's the deal with Wireless Routers?

Gotta get the internet from the living room into the bedroom. Do I hook the cable directly into the router? Does the cable go into the modem first then into the router? What? Does anyone have any experience using wireless routers with Comcast cable internet?

ethernet connects to main computer downstairs from the router, forget the modem, you then purchase a wireless adapter and put it in the computer upstairs, then later configure the settings to allow the adapter to connect to the router usually using WEP or WPA

you sound like Jerry Seinfeld at a cisco convention
Reply:You have connect your modem to the router using RJ45/ethernet cable. Dont confuse RJ45 and ethernet cable because its same. Then you have to configure your router. Then you will get wireless connection.
Reply:Cable which goes from Comcast modem to computer, unplug from PC and plug in to wireless router "Internet" jack.

It is very easy, then go to your computer wireless connections and connect to that wireless network, you suppose to go online, If not, try to reconfigure wireless router. open any internet browser and type your gateway address, as usuall it is http://192.168.1.1 password and username depends on wireless router model. Do google or yahoo with your router name, for example: "Linksys WRGT 54 default password" and you';; find that username/password is admin/password.

I hope this will help you

Good lluck !
Reply:Modem to Router and then connect the LAN cable to the PC to one of the router LAN ports. Next set up all PC's not connected via cable for wireless operation. Lastly set up the router security so everyone isn't using your wireless connection for free.
